Privacy and house rules
Blipling is one creature that everyone looks after together. There are no accounts: you never give a name, an email address or a password. This page says what the site does store, in plain words.
What is stored
- A random ID in a cookie. The first time you open the page, your browser is given a random ID. It is how the site counts your five turns a day. It is not linked to who you are. The cookie lasts about 400 days.
- What you did for each pet. How many times your ID fed, played with and cleaned each pet, and which epitaph it voted for. This is what "Your history" shows.
- Your alert address, if you turn alerts on. Your browser gives the site an address at your browser's push service (run by Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft) so an alert can be sent. It is deleted when you turn alerts off.
- A passkey, if you choose to save your history. A passkey lets you reach your history from another device. The site stores only the passkey's public half, which is useless to anyone else. The passkey itself stays on your device or in your password manager. No email address is involved.
- A scrambled form of your network address, for one day. It is used only to spot bots and crowds of fake players. The real address is not stored by the game.
What is not stored or done
- No names, email addresses, passwords, photos or location.
- No advertising trackers, no tracking cookies and no profile of you. If a sponsor line is shown, everyone sees the same line and nothing about you is used or shared.
- Nothing is sold or passed to anyone else.
Other services the page uses
- Cloudflare hosts the site, and its servers see your network address as part of delivering any web page. If the site needs to check that you are a person, it uses Cloudflare Turnstile.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits so we can see how busy the site is. It uses no cookies, does not identify you and does not follow you to other sites.
Who it is for
Blipling is a game for a general audience. It asks nobody for personal details, whatever their age, and nobody can type anything that other people see: epitaphs are chosen from a list written in advance.
Your choices
- Start again: clear this site's cookies and you get a new random ID. The old one can no longer be connected to you by anyone, including us.
- Stop alerts: use "Turn off" under the pet, or switch off notifications for this site in your browser.
- Ask a question, or ask for your history to be deleted: write to contact@blipling.com.
House rules
- Five turns a day each. Don't use bots, scripts or extra identities to take more.
- The pet really can die. That is the game, and nobody is owed a living pet.
- The site is provided as it is, with no promise that it will always be available.
- Networks that send unusual traffic may be asked to prove a person is there, or be paused for a while.
Who runs this
